Investigators have determined a recent shooting at a Langley, B.C., home that terrified a family inside was related to extortion. Langley RCMP said new information has emerged since the gunfire was reported early Friday morning that indicates the property was targeted. “On the day this incident happened we did not have and information to believe this was extortion-related,” Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said. “However, through the investigation progressing over the following days it became apparent that it is.” The shooting happened around 12:40 a.m. at a home in the 21500 block of 45A Avenue. Surveillance video shows the shooter, dressed in all black, firing more than a dozen shots toward the home. Some of the bullets strike the glass railing on the home’s porch, multiple panes of which can be seen shattering. A resident, who did not want to be identified, spoke with CTV News after the incident, and said her family was left shaken. “We have young kids in the home,” she said. Langley RCMP said officers are continuing to investigate the shooting—canvassing for witnesses, reviewing surveillance video and analyzing evidence—in the hopes of identifying those responsible.
