RCMP seek witnesses, video after assault with a weapon in Port Coquitlam

Mounties are seeking witnesses and surveillance video after someone was seriously injured in an alleged assault with a weapon in Port Coquitlam Monday morning.

Coquitlam RCMP said the incident unfolded in the 2800 block of Shaughnessy Street at approximately 11:45 a.m.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Mounties said due to the nature of the victim’s injuries, investigators have not yet been able to speak with them.

At this time, Mounties said they do not believe the suspect and victim knew each other.

“Our officers are working diligently to identify the suspect,” Acting Cpl. George Han said in a news release Wednesday. “We are asking anyone who may have information, CCTV, cellphone or dash cam video in the area of the 2800 block of Shaughnessy Street between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to contact our investigators (at 604-945-1550) and quote file number 2026-931.”
