Police seeking motorcyclist after alleged road rage incident in West Vancouver

Authorities are asking for the public’s help identifying a motorcyclist following an alleged road rage incident in West Vancouver this week.

The West Vancouver Police Department said the incident happened at 7:48 p.m. Monday, when a motorcyclist pulled up to a grey Mercedes on the Taylor Way off-ramp of Highway 1 eastbound.

“After an exchange of words, the motorcyclist is alleged to have smashed the Mercedes driver’s side-view mirror and damaged the front door and fender panels,” the WVPD said in a news release Friday.

“While we have yet to determine the facts of this case, the West Vancouver Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind the public that unsafe driving behaviours and conflict on the roads will not be tolerated.”

Authorities described the motorcyclist as a “heavy-built male” who was wearing a black helmet, grey shorts and a black graphic hoodie.

His motorcycle is described as small and black, with twin black tailpipes and no fairing or windshield.

Investigators have asked anyone who witnessed the incident, has dash-cam video of what happened, or knows the motorcyclist to come forward.

Road rage incidents that “escalate to violence, property damage or aggressive driving” can result in tickets or even criminal charges, police said.
