Mounties investigating after man found critically injured in Richmond, B.C.

Police in Richmond, B.C., are urging witnesses to come forward after a man was found critically injured in a city park over the weekend.

Officers responded to Brighouse Park at 3 a.m. Sunday, where they discovered the man suffering from what investigators described as life-threatening injuries.

Two ambulances were dispatched to the scene, including one carrying advanced care paramedics, according to B.C. Emergency Health Services.

The man was treated at the scene and then transported to hospital in critical condition, police and paramedics said.

Neither agency described the man’s injuries or how they were sustained.

A significant police presence remained in the park throughout the day Sunday, including members of the RCMP’s forensic identification unit.

Investigators were seen canvassing the area for witnesses and combing the area around the park’s baseball diamond and bleachers, where several evidence markers were laid.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who was at or near Brighouse Park between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Sunday

“Residents, late‑night workers, pedestrians, or drivers with dash‑cam footage from the area are encouraged to reach out,” the RCMP detachment said in a statement.
