Man facing 7 firearms charges after Prince George motel room seizure, police say

A 35-year-old man remains in custody after police seized cash, drugs and a gun from a motel in Prince George, B.C., late last month.

Jason Matthew Ryan Farquhar has been charged with seven firearms offences in connection to the incident, Prince George RCMP said in a news release Tuesday.

The charges against Farquhar are:

• Possession of a loaded, restricted firearm
• Two counts of possession of a firearm knowing it is contrary to a prohibition order
• Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a weapon
• Storage of a firearm contrary to regulations

He is also charged with failing to comply with a release order.

Online court records indicate the offences are alleged to have occurred on Sept. 29. Farquhar’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 14 in Williams Lake, and he remains in custody.

Mounties said they arrested Farquhar “while attending to an unrelated investigation” at a motel in the 900 block of Victoria Street.

They did not specify what the unrelated investigation was about. The investigation that led to Farquhar’s arrest included the seizure of “approximately 100 grams combined of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and crack cocaine,” police said in their release.

They also seized more than $40,000 in cash and a firearm from the motel room.
