Homicide investigators have taken over the case of a missing man in Burnaby. An investigation into the whereabouts of 45-year-old Masood Masjoody was launched Monday evening, after Burnaby RCMP received reports from concerned neighbours. Mounties found his disappearance to be out of character, and believe criminality was involved. A news release Wednesday from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says members are now working to figure out what happened, and are asking anyone who knew him to come forward. “We don’t believe Masood’s disappearance was random,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT, in the release. “We believe there are family and friends with important information who have yet to speak with us and we are asking them to come forward. It is essential for us to have all the information available to establish a fulsome timeline.” Investigators say at this time they do not believe his disappearance is related to gangs or extortions. Anyone with information is asked to contact IHIT by phone at 1-877-551-4448, or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
