Homicide investigators called to Langley after 2 bodies found

Homicide investigators have been called to Langley after two people were found dead on a rural property Monday morning.

Mounties say they responded to a report of a “suspicious incident” in the 21000 block of 16 Avenue around 11:15 a.m.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were sent to the area and found two bodies.

“While this investigation is in its infancy, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in,” Langley RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Zynal Sharoom said Monday.

Few further details have been provided about the case.

In a statement Tuesday, IHIT said the scene is contained to a single residence, and there is no ongoing risk to public safety.

Investigators are not releasing the names of the victims yet, pending their identification and notification of their families. Police said they are still working to establish a timeline of events.

“We are liaising with our policing partners to canvass for CCTV, collect evidence, conduct interviews, and advance this investigation,” IHIT Const. Pratheep Thavarajah said, in the statement. “Investigators continue to work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.”
