A resort in the B.C. Interior with a history of violating public health rules has been ordered to close its pool and hot tubs and stop serving all food—including a continental breakfast, according to officials. Spruce Hill Resort, which is located near 108 Mile Ranch, has been operating without permits for food service and “recreational water” since March 31, 2025, according to a Friday bulletin from Interior Health. “Despite progressive enforcement, which includes public health orders, tickets and action through the courts, IH has confirmed through inspections that the resort continues to operate and there is a current risk to people using these facilities,” the notice said. The health authority also said it will be monitoring compliance with the closure orders and taking further enforcement action as necessary. The resort itself has not been shuttered by the health authority, but any would-be visitors are being urged to avoid the restaurant, pool and hot tub until “the operator brings them into compliance with B.C. legislation and they no longer create a risk to public health.” Publicly available information on enforcement action shows previous closure orders for the pool, hot tubs and restaurant due to a lack of permit or health approval, as well as tickets for violating closure orders.
