A health advisory was issued for Lake Sundance Thursday afternoon. Alberta Health Services said in a media release that a blue-green algae bloom and/or toxins have been identified in the waters of Lake Sundance. Residents who live near the shore, and visitors to the lake, are advised to not swim in any areas where blue-green algae blooms are visible. If you contact any, wash with clean tap water as soon as possible. Don’t drink or cook with water from the lake or eat whole fish or fish trimmings. Keep pets away from the water. Water in Lake Sundance where blue-green algae is not visible can still be used for recreational purposes, even while the health advisory remains in place. AHS said the advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
