Early morning rockslide causes partial closure at Whistler Blackcomb

A rockslide that struck before opening at Whistler Blackcomb on Thursday has prompted a partial closure of the popular resort.

The slide happened in the “vicinity of Whistler Peak” in the early morning hours, according to a statement from owner Vail Resorts.

“No one was in the area at the time and there are no reported injuries,” the company said.

The Whistler Peak and Peak Express Chair will be closed “until further notice” while a team assess the situation, the company added.
