A mobile skin cancer screening clinic will soon be making its first stop in the Maritimes. The visit is part of the 2026 Mole Mobile Tour by Melanoma Canada. The Mole Mobile aims to bring free skin cancer screenings to underserved communities throughout Canada who may face long wait times or lack access to a dermatologist. “Initiatives like the Mole Mobile bring our expertise directly to communities, ensuring that early detection—and the chance to prevent advanced skin cancer—is within everyone’s reach,” said Dr. Mark Kirchhof, president of the Canadian Dermatology Association, in an announcement. The Mole Mobile will make its first stop in the Maritimes with a visit in Halifax from July 31 until Aug. 2. Melanoma Canada says the tour prioritizes underserved, rural, remote, and Indigenous regions, as well as urban centres with limited access to a dermatologist. While the Mole Mobile has been touring since 2023, the 2026 tour has expanded to include all 10 provinces. “Melanoma and skin cancer incidence rates continue to rise in Canada and around the world. Expanding the Mole Mobile Tour across Canada allows us to reach more Canadians than ever before with screenings, early detection and prevention education,” said Falyn Katz, CEO of Melanoma Canada, in an announcement. “With only 800 dermatologists serving a population of 40 million plus, this initiative helps to close critical gaps in care and provide a potentially life-saving service to thousands of people.” The Mole Mobile’s schedule can be found on the Melanoma Canada website.
