Campbell River RCMP ask public for information 2 weeks after man found dead

Mounties on Vancouver Island are looking for information as they investigate the death of a Campbell River man.

Arron Mooney was found deceased "prior to Christmas Day," Campbell River RCMP said in a news release Wednesday, more than two weeks after the fact.

The detachment did not say who found Mooney's body or exactly when or where it was discovered, nor did police elaborate on why they're investigating his death.

Asked for more information, spokesperson Const. Maury Tyre told CTV News police were limited in what they could share.

"(Mooney) was located in a rural area outside of town and cause of death has yet to be confirmed with autopsy results," Tyre said in an email.

The detachment shared two photos of Mooney and asked anyone who knew him or saw him between Dec. 17 and 22 to call it at 250-286-6221 and ask to speak to someone from the Major Crime Unit.
