The Nova Scotia RCMP says it is still looking for a third suspect following a home invasion and emergency alert early Wednesday morning. The home invasion happened on Highway 2 in East Shubenacadie just before 1:30 a.m. Police say a man armed with a firearm entered a home while a man and a woman were inside. The woman ran outside upon after the suspect got in. The suspect then allegedly robbed the man and fled the scene in the man’s truck with another man and the woman. The RCMP says it tracked the truck and immobilized it through its safety and support service while on Ice Pond Drive in Salmon River. Police say the two men and the woman then ran from the truck. The woman was “quickly” found but the men got away. An emergency alert was issued in the immediate and surrounding counties around 2:45 a.m. Residents were asked to seek shelter, close and lock their doors and windows, and not leave a secure location. People were also warned not to pick up hitchhikers. Police say the alert was issued because a firearm had been seen during the home invasion. One of the men was found in the area using an RCMP drone and was arrested with help from a police dog team. Police say they found two firearms in the stolen truck and the emergency alert was cancelled around 7 a.m. “The investigation, including efforts to identify and locate the second man, is ongoing. Investigators have determined that the home invasion was a targeted incident and do not believe there’s a threat to public safety,” reads an RCMP news release. The 35-year-old woman from Truro and the 30-year-old man from Millbrook remain in custody.
