A man from B.C.’s Lower Mainland plans to visit family overseas after scoring $500,000 in a recent Lotto Max draw. Surrey resident Sandeep Sidhu matched all four numbers playing the Extra on Dec. 5, and learned about his win at a gas station, according to the B.C. Lottery Corporation. “It was unexpected,” Sidhu told the BCLC. “I went straight home!” The lucky lottery player said his wife initially didn’t believe he’d won until he scanned the ticket—purchased at the Chevron on 175 Street and 56 Avenue—a second time in front of her. With the sudden windfall, Sidhu said he plans to fly to India to see relatives. The odds of matching the four Extra numbers on a Lotto Max ticket are approximately one in 3.7 million, according to the BCLC. The odds of winning the main Lotto Max jackpot are approximately one in 33.3 million.
