Rainy and overcast conditions are expected to persist for one more day. A special weather statement is in effect for Toronto and most of southern Ontario as multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms roll through the region. Environment Canada said additional rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 millimetres are possible. The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) issued a flood outlook watershed conditions statement. “Current weather forecast suggests a higher potential for flooding from TRCA river systems due to the possible significant amounts of rain, that could cause large amounts of water to flow into and overflow the rivers,” the TRCA said. “If the forecasted rainfall happens, rivers may rise above their normal water levels with stronger and faster flows for the next 2 days.” The TRCA added that shorelines, rivers, and streams in its jurisdiction should be considered dangerous, as rain may cause rapidly changing waters. Environment Canada said the rain is expected to end later this evening. On Monday, it will be cloudy in Toronto with a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high of 20 C. Sunny skies are expected to return on Tuesday.
