A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident in July at a Winnipeg bar where a man was attacked with bear spray and several others were chased in the parking lot with an air-powered rifle. The incident took place shortly before midnight on July 4 in the 1000 block of Henderson Highway. Police said a dispute over a VLT escalated, and the suspect attacked a 36-year-old man with bear spray and discharged it into the bar area. Police allege the suspect also chased and threatened several people in the parking lot while pointing a Sig Sauer MCX air-powered rifle. The suspect ran from the scene, discarding a backpack containing the rifle, bear spray canister, a knife and a small quantity of suspected heroin. The major crimes unit began investigating and identified a suspect, who was arrested without incident on Sept. 10. He has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to damage property and multiple weapons and firearm charges. He was detained in custody. None of the charges have been proven in court.
