Environment Canada says power outages are possible in the GTA due to strong winds that are set to arrive in the region on Tuesday night. In a special weather statement issued Tuesday morning, the national weather agency warned of northwesterly winds gusting to 70 km/h with isolated gusts of up to 80 km/h. “Winds will diminish overnight for areas near Georgian Bay and early Wednesday morning for areas near Lake Ontario,” the advisory read. Toronto drivers saw a messy morning commute following snow and freezing drizzle early Tuesday morning. A weather advisory was issued early this morning, warning drivers of hazardous driving conditions. That special weather statement has since ended. Toronto police said there was an uptick in collisions as a result of the inclement weather. CP24 Meteorologist Bill Coulter said most of the active weather will move east of the city by late morning. Toronto will see a high of 5 C on Tuesday. Sunshine and a high of 0 C is in the forecast for Christmas Eve, though it will feel closer to -7 in the morning when factoring in the wind chill. Christmas Day will see cloudy skies and a high of 2 C.
