Suspect arrested after attempted break-and-enter ‘through a basement window’ in Vaughan

A suspect is in custody after an attempted break-and-enter at a home in Vaughan on Friday.

It’s unclear what time the incident occurred but police say it happened in the Weston Road and Rutherford Road area.

The suspect allegedly attempted to gain access to the residence “through a basement window” but was unsuccessful.

The homeowner contacted police, and officers attended the area, locating the suspect a short distance away and taking them into custody.

No injuries were reported and no items were stolen.

There are no concerns for public safety.

The investigation is ongoing.
