Police say three people were arrested for assault with a weapon following reports that a man was jumped inside a business in Hamilton early Halloween morning. Witnesses told officers that three males had assaulted another male, “including kicks to the victim’s head,” police said Friday. Around 1:11 a.m. on Oct. 31, officers were called to a business near Eastgate Square, at 75 Centennial Pkwy. North, for a physical altercation involving several people inside a business vestibule, according to Hamilton Police. “Additional reports from a (passerby) confirmed that an individual appeared to have been ‘jumped,’” police said. They said officers arrived to find a man lying on the ground inside the vestibule, “suffering from significant head injuries.” The victim was semi-conscious, police said, and received emergency medical care from officers and paramedics. “The suspects were described as three individuals,” last seen heading south through the plaza toward Queenston Road, police said. One was dressed in white. “A short time later, officers located two males and one female matching the provided descriptions near the Shoppers Drug Mart in the same plaza. All three were arrested for Assault with a Weapon Causing Bodily Harm,” police said. Hamilton paramedics transported the victim, 37, to Hamilton General Hospital, where he remains in stable condition, reads a news release Friday afternoon. Police said the man was suffering serious injuries. They’re asking anyone who may have witnessed the altercation or has dashcam or surveillance footage from the area around 1 a.m. on Oct. 31 to contact them.
