One person is dead following the two-vehicle collision on Highway 40 in Chatham-Kent Friday. At about 5:11 p.m., officers responded to a serious two-vehicle collision on Highway 40 at Electric Line. The crash involved a van and a sedan. Elgin County OPP say the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead as a result of the crash. Highway 40 remains closed in both directions between Robin Line and Bush Line, and Electric Line/Oldfield Line is closed between Baldoon Road and Fraser Road temporarily to allow for investigation and for the safety of emergency responders. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area until further notice.
