Ajax man charged with manslaughter after man dies following fight

A 28-year-old man from Ajax has been charged with manslaughter after another man died following a fight in Whitby over the weekend.

On Saturday, just before midnight, Durham Regional Police Service said they were called to a parking lot near Colborne Street East and Green Street in Whitby for reports a fight.

There, officers found a male who had been assaulted.

The victim was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he died of his injuries.

He has been identified as 24-year-old Thomas Holm, of Whitby. Holm is Durham’s sixth homicide victim of 2025.

The suspect was located at his residence and arrested without incident. Austin Hill, 28, of Ajax, has been charged with manslaughter. He was held for a bail hearing.
