Toronto police working to determine what happened after scooter rider injured in city’s west end

An investigation is underway after a man riding a scooter was injured in an unknown incident in Toronto’s west end early Monday afternoon.

It happened in the Wychwood neighbourhood, near St. Clair Avenue West and Arlington Avenue, just west of Christie Street.

Toronto police said they were called to that area just after 1:15 p.m. for reports of a “possible” collision involving a scooter.

They said that a male rider was taken to the hospital via trauma run.

Paramedics initailly said that they transported a man to a trauma centre with serious, life-threatening injuries, however Toronto police are now saying they’re non-life-threatening.

Police say they’re now working to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“It is still unclear at this time whether there was a collision between the scooter and a vehicle. There is no vehicle on scene at this time that I’m aware of, and it is not yet known if the scooter was actually struck by a vehicle or not,” Const. Stephanie Miceli told CP24 in an email.

“Officers are currently on scene investigating to determine what actually happened here.”

Westbound St. Clair is currently closed at Rushton Road as police investigate. Motorists are being advised to use alternate routes and expect delays in the area.
