Man delivered fraudulent packages to businesses and obtained payment, police say

Police have released photos and a video of a man wanted in connection with a fraud investigation in Toronto in August.

The first incident occurred on Aug. 12 in the Adelaide Street West and Duncan Street area. A man pretended to be a local business owner, police said, and contacted the manager of another business.

The man then requested that the manager of the other business receive and pay for an expected parcel delivery, according to police.

After a short time, the suspect posed as a delivery man and went to the business with the package. Police said he obtained payment for the delivery.

Later, investigators found out the business owner was not expecting a delivery and the package was fraudulent.

The second incident occurred on Aug. 17 when police allege the same man went to a business in the Queen Street West and Brock Avenue area. The man committed a similar fraudulent delivery and also received payment, police said.

The suspect was captured on security cameras on both occasions.

He is described as medium build with black hair in a long ponytail.
