ANTWERP, Belgium - Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has been eliminated in the second round of the Diamond Games tennis tournament.

Bouchard, the top seed at the tournament and world No. 7, was upset 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 Thursday by Germany's Mona Barthel.

It was the second meeting between the players. Bouchard triumphed 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in her first meeting with Barthel in Wuhan, China, in September,.

Bouchard had skipped Canada's the Fed Cup tie against the Czech Republic in Quebec City last weekend, wanting to concentrate on his preparation for the Belgian tournament. The Czech Republic won all four matches to send Canada to an April World Group playoff against Romania.

Barthel will face Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic in the third round. Zahlavova Strycova beat France's Alize Cornet 6-4, 6-2.

Elsewhere, second-seed Angelique Kerber of Germany lost 6-1, 6-1 to Italian Francesca Schiavone. Karolina Pliskova, Lucie Safarova Dominika Cibulkova and Carla Suarez Navarro also advanced to the third round.
