Some 7-Eleven sandwiches recalled in Saskatchewan due to listeria

Several 7-Eleven products have been recalled in Saskatchewan due to contamination from listeria monocytogenes.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) the contamination affects products distributed in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

Among the affected products include:

• Hungryman subs
• Roast beef wedges
• Egg, sausage and cheddar on an English muffin
• Egg, bacon and cheddar on an English Muffin
• Chicken Caesar wraps
• And Spicy Buffalo chicken wraps

Each affected product had a best before date between April 12 and April 15.

CFIA says there have been no reported illnesses in association with the consumption of these products.

People who think they might’ve gotten sick from eating one of the recalled products are encouraged to contact their health care provider.

“Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness,” read a CFIA alert.

According to CFIA, pregnant women, the elderly and those who are considered immunocompromised are more at risk.

Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die," the agency added.
