Stolen engagement ring returned to Saskatoon woman

Tiffany Pennycook's engagement ring, and several watches from her watch collection, were stolen last week. The items were returned to her Thursday after Saskatoon police found them at a local pawn shop.

A Saskatoon woman whose engagement ring was stolen in a break-in last week says she’s relieved to have the ring back on her hand.

The ring was returned to Tiffany Pennycook on Thursday after police found the stolen jewelry in a local pawn shop.

“It’s been a crazy week,” she said from the Saskatoon police headquarters. “It’s been a bit of a roller coaster. I’m just super happy how things turned out.”

Pennycook’s ring and a number of watches were stolen after a break-in at her house June 9. She posted on Facebook the next day about the theft and pleaded for help finding the ring.

The post was shared nearly 6,000 times.

“The ring is irreplaceable to me. I’m heartbroken,” she wrote in the post. Her fiancé died from carbon monoxide poisoning in their home about three years ago.

“I’ve seen many examples of the power of social media so thought this was worth a shot.”

She posted Monday the ring was found.

She wasn’t expecting to find the ring, she told CTV News on Thursday.

“I was just super shocked that it was found, and how quickly it was found,” she said. “I’m generally just shocked that it came back.”

Police also found four of Pennycook’s stolen watches and are working to track down the suspect who broke into her home.
