A Saskatoon Mamba player is guaranteed to be named a 2026 Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) award winner. The CEBL has announced the nominees for league awards, and Mamba teammates Mohamed Mahadhi and Easton Thimm are the two finalists for Developmental Player of the Year. Mahadhi and Thimm both played for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies before joining the Mamba. Mahadhi left the U of S as the third-leading rebounder in Huskies’ history. Mahadhi averaged 2.0 points and 1.4 rebounds over 14 games with the Mamba this season. Thimm averaged 3.3 points and 2.9 rebounds across 18 games. The Mamba congratulated both Mahadhi and Thimm in a Facebook post. “Well-earned and well-deserved. Proud of the growth, proud of the grind. Let’s go boys,” the post read. CEBL award nominees and winners are voted on by head coaches, general managers, assistant coaches, league broadcasters and members of the media. Team representatives can’t vote for a player or coach from their respective team. Award winners will be announced following the CEBL Finals between the Brampton Honey Badgers and Winnipeg Sea Bears. Winnipeg defeated Saskatoon in the first round of the playoffs last week. The Finals run Aug. 12-16.
