Nutrien ends title sponsorship of the Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan

The Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan is looking for a new title sponsor.

The event, which takes place from June 4 to 7 this year, will be the first in over a decade without the support of Saskatchewan’s flagship potash giant Nutrien. That company’s predecessor, PotashCorp, began its partnership with the children’s festival in 2011.

Festival organizers made the announcement in a news release Wednesday morning.

“For the first time in many years, the Children’s Festival has an opening for a presenting partner,” festival organizers wrote in the release.

“This rare opportunity allows a Saskatchewan organization to stand at the forefront of a beloved family tradition and help shape the next chapter of a festival where imagination, creativity and community come together.”

In a statement to CTV News, a Nutrien spokesperson said it regularly reviews its community investment strategy to “ensure it aligns with our priorities and delivers meaningful impact in the communities where we operate.”

“Having fulfilled our agreement, we concluded our sponsorship of the Children’s Festival. We continue to invest significantly in a wide range of community initiatives across the province,” the company said.

Now, the Children’s Festival is putting out the call to organizations and businesses ready to “help deliver accessible, high-quality arts programming for children and families of all backgrounds.”

“There’s something truly special about watching thousands of children light up with joy at the same time. That spark – that shared magic – is what this festival is all about,” says Kayla Rourke, General Manager of the Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan.

“We’ve always been powered by community and now we’re looking for like-minded organizations to partner with to continue that magic.”
