Man sentenced to life in Holdner beating death

A man who beat another man to death with a baseball bat has been sentenced to life in prison with no eligibility of parole for 17 years.

Robert Jaymz McCamon pleaded guilty Monday in Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench to second-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Alexander Holdner.

Holdner’s body was found two years ago in a broken-down pickup truck on Circle Drive.

Court heard Holdner and two other men, McCamon and Kyle Jonathan Scott, were working on the truck in a rural area outside Saskatoon when McCamon lost his temper and beat Holdner to death.

McCamon and Scott put the body in the cab of the vehicle and drove toward the city. The truck lost a tire on Circle Drive and the pair ran from the vehicle, leaving Holdner in the cab.

Scott admitted in court to being an accessory after the fact. He was handed a four-year sentence, but with credit for time served, he will serve one year.
