Bitter cold leads to school bus cancellations in Saskatoon and area

Environment Canada says a colder and windier air mass is moving into Saskatchewan over the next few days.

School bus service was cancelled Thursday morning by Saskatoon’s public and Catholic school divisions due to the extreme cold.

Saskatoon Public Schools cancelled all bus routes and special service, including transportation for wheelchair students via bus and taxi. Regular taxi service operates normally while all schools remain open.

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools bus service has been cancelled for elementary school students (pre-kindergarten through Grade 8) in Saskatoon, Warman and Martensville.

Buses are also cancelled for high school students from Martensville and Warman who get bused to Bishop James Mahoney High School. Intensive-needs high school buses in Saskatoon also will not run.

Buses run by Prairie Spirit School Division may run in the afternoon. Information will be sent to parents and caregivers. First Student and Hertz will also inform parents of route cancellations.
