Wanuskewin Heritage Park, a National Historic Site of Canada located just north of Saskatoon, has a new leader. Jenaya Chutskoff, who has spent over a decade at Wanuskewin overseeing finance, human resources, government relations and more, has been named Chief Executive Officer of the cultural heritage site. “Following a thoughtful leadership transition process, the Board is confident that Jenaya is the right leader for this next chapter,” said Sascha Sasbrink-Harkema, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Her strategic leadership, her deep understanding of this remarkable place, and her unwavering commitment to building respectful relationships grounded in collaboration make her exceptionally well-positioned to build on the remarkable momentum of the organization.” Chutskoff takes over during an exciting time for Wanuskewin, with the organization closing in on UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. “Wanuskewin is a place unlike any other - a place where the land, the stories, and the living cultures of the Northern Plains Indigenous peoples create opportunities for people from every background to learn, connect, and move forward together,” Chutskoff said. “Together, we will honour the stewards of this place since time immemorial and for generations to come.” Wanuskewin describes its mission as ‘advancing the understanding and appreciation of the evolving cultures of the Northern Plains Indigenous peoples by preserving, interpreting, and sharing the stories held within this sacred landscape.’
