As of 5:43 p.m. the warning was over for Saskatchewan but was still in place for parts of Manitoba. A tornado warning has been issued for southeastern Saskatchewan. Environment Canada is tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado that is affecting the RM of Maryfield and the RM of Moosomin. It was located over the unincorporated community of Kola, Man. as of 4:37 p.m. Sunday and could also affect areas like Elkhorn and Kirkella. Environment Canada says the storm is traveling north at 40 kilometres per hour, possibly bringing destructive winds, damaging hail, rainfall and flooding. “Take cover immediately in a basement, interior room, or a sturdy shelter when threatening weather approaches. If no shelter is available, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris,” read Environment Canada’s alert. “If you are out on the water when threatening weather approaches, return to shore and seek shelter, if possible, or move directly away from the path of the tornado. Otherwise, wear your lifejacket, lie face down and protect your head.” Environment Canada also notes that tornadoes can be wrapped in rain and might not be visible.
