A 19-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to a pair of deaths on Regina’s Elphinstone Street earlier this week. The Regina Police Service (RPS) announced Wednesday morning that Patricia Stevenson, 19, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possessing a loaded or prohibited weapon. The names of the two victims will not be released, at the request of their families, according to RPS. Police officers responded to the 1100 block of Elphinstone Street at around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday after two people were reportedly shot. Officers found two bodies - a 42-year-old woman and 37-year-old man - outside a home in the area. Police reported the suspect fled the scene and attempted to hide from officers in a nearby yard. She was arrested with the help of a canine unit. The suspect was treated for injuries consistent with a dog bite. Stevenson will make her first court appearance Wednesday morning. The investigation is still considered ongoing. Police encourage anyone with information that could aid police to contact RPS or Regina Crime Stoppers.
