Not much change to the overall weather outlook for the next few days. We’ll see some occasional showers and cooler-than-average temperatures through to Friday. But, the weekend is looking warmer and sunnier. We have some breaks in the cloud around the Edmonton area this morning that might stick around long enough for us to catch a glimpse of the partial solar eclipse later this morning. By midday, clouds will push in from the north and we’re back to some scattered showers for this afternoon, this evening and overnight. It won’t rain non-stop throughout that timeframe... just hit-and-miss showers with the slight chance of a thunderstorm. Steadier and heavier rain hits southern Alberta Thursday and then drives north into eastern Alberta Thursday night/early Friday. Edmonton looks to be outside that zone of heavier rain, but we’ll be cloudy all day Thursday with some more occasional showers and that chance of precipitation continues into Friday morning. Then... the pattern begins to shift. An upper ridge starts to push up from the south and although that should put us into a sunnier setup for the weekend and early next week. It’ll also help boost temperatures. We’re looking at afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper teens for Wednesday-Friday in Edmonton and area. By the weekend, daytime highs climb into the low to mid 20s and that should be the temperature range through next week. So... not much chance of seeing any upper 20 C/near 30 C heat... but back to around or slightly above the seasonal average.
