Alberta’s first Shake Shack location opened at Chinook in May, and now the country’s first location with a drive-thru will open at the end of the month. The American fast-food chain started as a single hot-dog cart in New York City in 2001. Now, there are more than 400 locations globally. Calgary’s newest Shake Shack location will be located at 9253 Macleod Tr. S.W., between Chick-fil-A and Adrenalin Source for Sports. Officials say the drive-thru will have access to a drive-thru combo meal, as well as Alberta-exclusive menu items like the Prairie Berry Shake. “We’ve designed this location to deliver the same cooked-to-order experience Shake Shack is known for, while offering the speed and ease that guests are looking for,” said Billy Richmond, business director for Shake Shack Canada. The new location also has some local flavour from Calgary artist Larissa Schuler, who hand-painted a mural on the exterior back wall showcasing iconic Alberta imagery, which will be visible as customers pass through the drive-thru. The Shake Shack drive-thru on Macleod will open to the public at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27.
