A 33-year-old Ottawa man is facing stunt driving and impaired driving charges after being stopped speeding 81 km/h over the speed limit on Highway 417. Ontario Provincial Police say an officer stopped a vehicle for stunt driving on Hwy. 417 near Pinecrest Road shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday. OPP Constable Michael Fathi said the driver was travelling 181 km/h on Hwy. 417. “During the traffic stop, officers observed open cannabis in the vehicle,” Fathi said. “Further observations made during the traffic stop led officers to conduct an impaired driving investigation.” The driver is facing seven charges, including operation while impaired – alcohol and drivers, dangerous operation of a vehicle, possessing more than one licence, driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available, stunt driving and speeding 50 km/h over the posted speed limit. “Along with the 30-day suspension for stunt driving, the accused also received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and had their vehicle impounded for 14 days,” Fathi said.
