New consignment store in Regina will allow customers to buy and/or sell their own clothing for cash

A new store in Regina known as Plato’s Closet set to open on Thursday (Jan. 16) will prioritize affordable and gently used clothing for teenagers and young adults in their 20s. Patrons will be able to buy as well as sell their gently used items for cash on the spot.

Located at 450 Albert Street N, local owners Chantal and Kylie Pasieka say the Regina location will be just the second of its kind in Saskatchewan.

“We look forward to providing a place for teens and young adults to shop at an affordable price, and a place for them to bring their gently used clothing in exchange for cash on the spot. We want to be a place of convenience and sustainability. Regina [and surrounding areas] does not have anything quite like it currently, so we really hope to fill that gap in the market,” co-owner Chantal Pasieka said in a news release.

Plato’s Closet, which is part of Winmark – the Resale Company (hyperlink), currently leads Canada in the buying and selling of name brand, gently used clothing and accessories for teens and young adults in their 20s.

There are 510 stores located throughout Canada and the United States, the release said.

“Unlike a typical consignment store, no appointment is necessary to sell clothing and accessories to Plato’s Closet. Customers can achieve savings up to 70 percent off trendy, brand name clothing and accessories and receive cash on the spot for gently used items that are outgrown or no longer wanted,” the release said.

From opening day on Jan. 16 through the weekend Chantal and Kylie have planned giveaways and special deals for patrons.

The store’s hours will be Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. and 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sundays.
