Mild temperatures through the next few days with some 20-something daytime highs moving in towards the end of the week. We’ll get to 16 or 17 C for a high this afternoon in Edmonton. Sunshine this morning will give way to some clouds this afternoon and then there’s a good chance of some showers and/or thunderstorms moving into the area late today. Those showers and thunderstorms will fire up in western Alberta this afternoon and then move east. The most likely timeframe for them to hit the Edmonton region is in the early evening. Thunderstorms will bring a chance of powerful gusts and the potential for some small hail. A separate system develops over southern Alberta late today and brings the potential for some heavier, steadier rain to parts of east-central Alberta overnight and early Wednesday. There’s a chance we may see a few scattered showers on the back side of that system early Wednesday in the Edmonton region. It’ll also be a bit cooler and gusty on Wednesday. Drier, warmer air starts to settle in for Thu/Fri as daytime highs get up around 20 C. The weekend outlook has a high degree of uncertainty. The modelling is split on whether or not we’ll see late-day showers/thunderstorms on Saturday or Sunday. For now...I’m going with highs in the low 20s and a better chance of late-day precip on Saturday.
