Blue Bombers buying billboards in Regina in lead up to Labour Day Classic

Billboards in Regina purchased by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers taunt the Saskatchewan Roughriders ahead of the Labour Day Classic.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are attempting to set the tone of the upcoming Labour Day Classic in Regina before stepping foot in the Queen City – courtesy of an advertising campaign.

Residents may have already noticed the billboards across the city, with locations including Parliament Avenue and Albert Street as well as 15th Avenue and Albert Street.

The ads are emblazoned with the phrase: “Friends don’t let friends wear green,” while a subheading reads: “A public service message from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.”

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are set to face off against the Bombers for the 60th annual Labour Day Classic on Sunday, Aug. 31.

Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. at Mosaic Stadium.

According to TSN, the Green and White are 38-21 all-time in the Labour Day matchup.
