Arrest made after woman run over and dragged by vehicle on Carry the Kettle

The File Hills First Nations Police Service arrested one person following an incident where a woman was run over and dragged by a vehicle on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.

The service received a 911 hangup call on the evening of May 29 by a woman who said she had been run over by a vehicle and was bleeding badly, according to a social media post on Monday.

Police say the call came from an unknown location in the community, with only coordinates made available.

When officers searched the area using the coordinates, they found the woman with serious injuries.

Through investigation, officers found the woman was run over and dragged by a vehicle.

EMS took the woman to Indian Head Hospital then to the Regina General Hospital.

Another woman who was identified as the driver was arrested at the scene.

She has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, impaired operation of a conveyance, impaired operation over 80 causing bodily harm, and failure to comply with a release order.

She was remanded into custody and appeared in Fort Qu’Appelle Provincial Court on June 1.
