Suspended driver operating was operating unsafe truck with expired plates: OPP

A 26-year-old driver from Brampton, Ont., faces charges after being stopped by police on Highway 69, south of Sudbury, on Tuesday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police said that members from the Noelville Detachment of Nipissing West OPP conducted the traffic stop shortly before 9:15 a.m. on June 2.

Vehicle unsafe, plates expired

OPP said the driver was found to be suspended at the time of the stop.

“The vehicle was also found to be unsafe with expired licence plates,” said police in a social media post.

OPP Const. Rob Lewis said as a result of the stop, the driver was charged with driving while under suspension and driving a vehicle without a validated plate.

In addition to the charges, OPP said the pickup truck officers stopped was towed and impounded until it could be driven safely by a licenced driver.

The driver will attend court at a later date to answer to the charges.
