A tornado warning issued for the Rapides-des-Joachim area in Quebec’s Pontiac region on Saturday has ended. The red-level weather alert issued at 7:05 p.m. advised residents that meteorologists were tracking a severe thunderstorm that was “possibly producing a tornado.” “Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible,” Environment Canada said. In a 7:21 p.m. update, Environment Canada said the storm was located over areas north of Deep River, travelling eastward at 40 kilometres per hour. Shortly before 7:40 p.m., Environment Canada removed the red-level warning, and a yellow-level thunderstorm warning was issued for the area. “Heavy rain may cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility,” Environment Canada said in it’s yellow-level weather alert. “If you hear roaring wind, see a funnel cloud, flying debris, or any threatening weather approaching, take shelter immediately. Don’t drive through flooded roadways.” On Sunday, Environment Canada told CTV News they had not received any reports of a tornado landing in the region. Environment Canada also noted that a funnel cloud was reported by the Gatineau airport around 7 p.m. on Saturday.
