These were the most cancelled OC Transpo bus trips during the third week of February

More than 15 per cent of trips were cancelled on an OC Transpo route that runs between Tunney’s Pasture and Gatineau during the third week of February, as the transit service continues to deal with a shortage of buses.

OC Transpo cancelled 1,527 bus trips during the week of Feb. 15 to 21, accounting for 3.4 per cent of all planned trips during the week. Nearly 400 trips were not delivered on Feb. 20, when 11.6 cm of snow fell.

Data provided to CTV News Ottawa shows 46 trips were cancelled on Route 13 the week of Feb. 15 to 21, with only 84 per cent of planned trips cancelled during the week. The route stops at Tunney’s Pasture, Bayview and Pimisi LRT stations in Ottawa, and has stops in Gatineau near Place du Portage.

CTVNewsOttawa.ca asked OC Transpo for a list of the routes with the most cancelled bus trips during the week of Feb. 15 to 21.

The data shows Route 12, which runs between Blair Station and Tunney’s Pasture, had the highest number of trips cancelled during the week of Feb. 15 to 21, with 81 trips cancelled. OC Transpo cancelled 134 trips on the route between Feb. 8 and 14, and 97 trips on the route during the first week of February.

OC Transpo cancelled 63 trips on Route 7 during the third week of February, which runs between Carleton University and St. Laurent along Bank Street, Rideau Street and Beechwood.

According to the data, 56 trips were cancelled on Route 11, which runs from downtown Ottawa to Bayshore, with stops at Parliament, Bayview and Tunney’s Pasture.

Of the 1,527 bus trips cancelled during the week of Feb. 15 to 21, 448 trips were cancelled due to operator availability, 405 trips scrapped due to on-street adjustments and 409 bus trips were cancelled because no bus was available.

The transit service cancelled 5,191 bus trips across the OC Transpo service during the first three weeks of February, including 2,087 trips during the week of Feb. 8 to 14.

OC Transpo cancelled 9,236 trips in January. Data showed routes 12, 6, 7 and 88 had the highest number of trip cancellations in January.
