Police investigating distraction theft in Ottawa’s Alta Vista neighbourhood

Police are looking to identify three suspects in connection to a distraction theft in Ottawa’s Alta Vista neighbourhood.

The Ottawa Police Service said at approximately 6:40 p.m. last Friday, two women approached a senior citizen in the area of Alta Vista and Smyth Road and attempted to remove a necklace from her neck.

The suspects left the scene in a dark coloured Ford Edge.

Police issued photos and descriptions of three suspects:

• Suspect 1 is described as a Middle Eastern woman, approximately 5′2″ or 5′3″, with dark hair. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a light-coloured sweater, a light blue floral shirt underneath, a long black skirt and dark-coloured sneakers.
• Suspect 2 is described as a Middle Eastern woman, approximately 5′2″ or 5′3″, with dark hair. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a light-coloured sweater and a long skirt or dress.
• The driver of the Ford Edge is described by police as a man with dark facial hair. At the time, he was wearing a light button-up t-shirt.
