There will be an increased police presence at All Saints High School in Kanata today as police investigate a swatting threat. The Ottawa Police Service said on social media that it is aware of a swatting threat made against the school on Kanata Avenue. “Students and staff will see an increased presence at the school today out of an abundance of caution,” police said. “At this time, there is no known threat to the students, staff, or school itself.” In a letter to parents and guardians, the Ottawa Catholic School Board said All Saints High School was the target of a “suspected swatting incident” early Tuesday morning. “A small number of staff and students received an email containing a threat of violence,” the board said. “The Ottawa Police Service was contacted immediately and responded to the school. They have confirmed that this was a suspected swatting incident and that there is no credible threat to our school.” The letter adds, “Although this was not a real threat, we take incidents like these very seriously. They require a coordinated emergency response and can be unsettling for those who receive or hear about the message.”
