Man in critical condition after shooting in Overbrook

Ottawa police are investigating a daylight shooting in Overbrook that left a man with life-threatening injuries. CTV’s Austin Lee reports.

A man was critically injured after being shot in Overbrook Wednesday afternoon.

Ottawa police say they received multiple 911 calls reporting that a man had been shot in the 300 block of Prince Albert Street shortly after 1 p.m.

An adult male was found with critical injuries, according to Ottawa paramedics spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps.

Paramedics attempted to stabilize him at the scene and he was transported to hospital where he remains in life-threatening condition, Deschamps says.

Ottawa police say one person was taken into custody a short time later.

Investigators are still working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.

“Residents in the area can expect an increased police presence as officers canvass the neighbourhood for witnesses, video, and evidence,” police said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

Police say an investigation is ongoing by the Guns and Gangs Unit.
