Ottawa launched 9 new photo radar cameras in November: Here's how many tickets each camera issued in the first month

The City of Ottawa turned on nine new photo radar cameras on city streets in November, as the city continues to expand the automated speed enforcement camera program in community safety zones, school zones and high-speed locations.

Forty-nine cameras were in operation in November, and the city planned to have 60 photo radar cameras in operation by the end of 2024.  The 2025 City of Ottawa budget calls for another 24 photo radar cameras to be installed this year, including a pilot project to install the cameras on rural roads.

Statistics show the new camera on Walkley Road, between Colliston Court (north) and Albion Road/Colliston Court (south), issued 1,136 tickets in November, it's first month in operation.

The camera on Castlefrank Road, between Kakulu Road and Hungerfort Gate, issued 702 tickets in November, while the camera on Main Street, between Evelyn Avenue and Springhurst Drive issued 587 tickets.

Here is a look at the number of tickets issued by the nine new photo radar cameras in November. The statistics don't say when the cameras were activated.

348,000 tickets

Photo radar cameras caught more than 348,000 speeders on Ottawa roads through the first 11 months of the year.

Statistics show 348,634 speeding tickets were issued through the automated speed enforcement camera program between January and November, including 25,035 tickets in November.

The photo radar camera on King Edward Avenue, on the road that connects to the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge, caught 56,126 speeders in the first 11 months of 2024.  A total of 3,234 speeding tickets were issued to speeders caught on the camera on King Edward Avenue in November.
