Ontario Provincial Police are warning people who arrange sales online to be wary of counterfeit cash. Grenville OPP said a teenager selling an e-bike online met with a potential buyer in Kemptville on Friday. The man purchased the bike and took it away, only for the seller to realize afterwards the buyer had used counterfeit money. Police released a photo of the suspect and a vehicle. If you recognize either, you’re asked to call Grenville County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. “This is a reminder to use caution when buying or selling online. Meet in a public place, bring someone with you, and take time to check any cash before completing the sale,” the OPP said in a post on X. “Be wary of anyone who rushes the transaction. If something feels off, trust your instincts and walk away.” Last week, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) also issued a warning about reports of counterfeit cash being used after meeting buyers online. “OPS has seen an increase in counterfeit cash being used in Kijiji and Marketplace transactions.
