Warning: This article contains disturbing details that may be triggering to readers. A man who has lived in Barrie, Hillsdale and Petawawa, Ont. and faces more than a dozen sex crimes involving at least five girls under the age of 16 is headed toward an anticipated plea. 25-year-old Michael Kameron Baxter appeared in an Ottawa courtroom Thursday after having all of his Barrie and Orillia charges transferred to Ottawa where it is expected Baxter will plead guilty at a later date. Court documents obtained by CTV News reveal the charges, stemming from allegations between 2024 and 2025, were moved in late August to Ottawa where Baxter has retained lawyer Joe Addelman for what has been described as an anticipated global resolution of his charges on consent from the Crown Attorney’s office in Barrie. Baxter, who is originally from Barrie, and has been out on bail under the supervision of his father, is accused of touching girls under the age of 16 for a sexual purpose, while he allegedly secretly recorded the incidents on his cell phone. Charges against Baxter include sexual assault and sexual interference. Police said the alleged assaults happened in public places including an Orillia store in June 2025, when investigators said Baxter fled on foot following one of the incidents. He was arrested a week later. According to court documents obtained by CTV News, Baxter is accused of five counts each of sexual assault and sexual touching of girls in separate incidents in Barrie and Orillia starting in the summer of 2024. Provincial police believed at the time there may have been more victims out there and encouraged anyone who was affected to come forward. Earlier this year, Baxter was charged with similar allegations in Ottawa where he is accused of sexually touching and assaulting girls under the age of 14 in alleged incidents between May and June 2025. He is ordered by the court not to communicate with or be anywhere near about a dozen girls. Provincial police revealed Baxter also lived in Petawawa. He was previously represented by Barrie defence lawyer Andrew Knott who declined to comment on the case prior to parting ways with the accused. Baxter is scheduled to return to an Ottawa courtroom in late December. The allegations against him have not been tested in court.
