O-Train riders were forced to wait up to 30 minutes on Monday morning after a stopped train slowed down service on O-Train Line 1. OC Transpo reported Line 1 was operating single-track service between Hurdman and uOttawa stations between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. A spokesperson for OC Transpo said a train travelling westbound came to a stop between Lees and uOttawa stations at approximately 8 a.m., and was unable to regain power. “Customers on the stopped train were safely transferred to another train so they could continue their journeys. OC Transpo staff were on site to assist customers with the transfer,” Katrina Camposarcone-Stubbs said in a statement to CTV News Ottawa’s Leah Larocque. “While technicians worked to remove the stopped train and during the transfer of riders from the stopped train, other customers on Line 1 may have experienced a system hold of up to 30 minutes.” CTV News Ottawa’s Leah Larocque spotted a train stopped on the westbound track between Lees and uOttawa stations. Some commuters said they sat on a stopped train at Tunney’s Pasture around 9 a.m. and the signs said “held.” Full service resumed on O-Train Line 1 at 9:30 a.m. after the train was removed from the track. “The stopped train has now been removed from service and Rideau Transit Maintenance (RTM) is looking into the cause,” the statement said. “We thank customers for their patience while staff worked to safely restore regular service.” This is the second issue on the O-Train in five days. Last Thursday, service was disrupted between St. Laurent and Blair stations after damage was discovered on the overhead catenary system. The damage was discovered after a train stopped at Cyrville Station. Full service resumed on the eastern section of the O-Train line on Saturday.
